U S News' Top Schools

Every year, US News and World Report publishes its' list of Top High Schools in the country.  Their formula is based on 3 factors; the average student performance on State tests vs the rest of the State, the average disadvantaged student performance on State tests vs similar students in the rest of the State, and if the High School gets past these first 2 criteria they are then judged on the participation rate of seniors in AP courses and how many passed AP tests.

Not all High Schools were judged due to lack of information.  Approximately 1900 High Schools were identified and awarded a Gold, Silver, or Bronze status.  In Pennsylvania, 357 of the 679 High Schools were judged.  Approximately 13% percent of the High Schools received recognition.  There were 65 Bronze awards and 20 Silver awards and 1 Gold award.

Great Valley received a Silver award.
