Education; Not a Sports/Community Center!
How can our School Board even consider spending money on a Sports/Community Center?
REJECT SPENDING OF TAX DOLLARS ON A NEW SPORTS COMPLEX/COMMUNITY CENTER THAT IS UNRELATED TO OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT
FACT: KD Markley’s 5th grade classrooms are BUSTING AT THE SEAMS, and yet our School Board has refused to hire another 5th grade teacher and add another classroom. However, our School Board was able to find $6.6 million dollars to purchase land "for the future", but then decided to consider a new sports complex/community center on that site that is unrelated to the education of our children.
FACT: Many of our classrooms are without the TECHNOLOGY needed to enhance learning for our students, however, our School Board has found the money to hire architects to design preliminary plans for a new sports complex/community center to be built on taxpayer funded land with absolutely no educational benefit for our students.
FACT: Great Valley School District failed to meet Pennsylvania standards on the PSSA tests for special ed students and now our high school is officially on a “WARNING LIST” with the Pennsylvania Department of Education. However, our school board has spent over $2 million of taxpayers dollars on two state-of-the-art ARTIFICIAL TURF FIELDS at both the high and middle schools (sink holes and all).
FACT: Great Valley School District’s scores on SAT TESTS are far below those of our neighboring school districts in T/E, Radnor and Unionville Chaddsford. However, our school board has failed to set meaningful goals and objectives for our Superintendent and teachers to correct this problem, yet they consider spending our taxpayer dollars on a new sports/community center complex that has nothing to do with our School District.
WHAT IS THE DISTRICT’S JOB: Great Valley School District’s purpose should be to educate our children, not spend our tax money on an unrelated sport complex/community center.
STOP THE MADNESS!
SPEND OUR TAX DOLLARS ON EDUCATION, NOT ON A COMMUNITY CENTER!
SAY “NO” TO ALL FUTURE SPENDING OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS ON A NEW SPORTS COMPLEX/COMMUNITY CENTER AT THE EXPENSE OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR OUR STUDENTS!
