The Great Valley Stakeholders' website was created by a non-partisan group of parents, senior citizens, business owners, taxpayers and other concerned citizens from the Great Valley School District in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
We believe that the education of our children could improve significantly if we had an effective School Board.
The purpose of this website is to provide information to the public and the School Board regarding the following issues which the Board must address in order to ensure our children receive the best education possible:
The need for more Fiscal Responsibility by the School Board. (They have approved budget increases of 60% in the past 8 years, while the student population has only increased 10% and the academic performance has not improved)
The need for more Transparency in the operations of the School Board
The need for more Communication by the School Board with the taxpayers
The need for more Independence by the School Board from the Superintendent and staff
The need for Measurable Goals and Objectives to improve the academic performance of the School District
The most recent articles appear in the left column from the top. Under those articles, the main issues appear in CAPITAL LETTERS and those buttons contain all the past articles that relate to those main issues.
Great Valley Stakeholders are residents of the Great Valley School District, committed to the goals for our School District listed above. We have no formal structure. In deference to our participants, some of whom have children attending GVSD, we do not publicly share the names of participants (a practice common to many organizations).
Our participants do not include any currently serving School Board Directors and they neither post information at our web site nor attend our meetings. Great Valley Stakeholders does not endorse candidates for School Board, attempting instead to clarify issues for further research by voters, whom we trust to make their own informed decisions.
We post information from publicly available sources, which we always attempt to cite. We understand not everyone may share our goals, but we attempt to provide the basis for intelligent discussion. We strongly encourage residents to watch all School Board meetings at www.gvsd.org, as well as to attend and participate in School Board meetings.
